Stress Management Tips - Real Tips That Work
Stress is a silent but major killer and responsible for many premature deaths. But you need not worry as there are some great tips that really work out there and I'll share them with you in this article.
Stress affects us all in some way or the other but have you ever noticed that some people just don't get stressed and wonder how they do it? Stress is all in the mind and is about your own personal thoughts and reactions to an event. If we give you less chance to react then you have less time to react and get stressed.
Humor Yourself
OK, I don't mean tell yourself jokes but watch more comedy shows on TV and read more humorous books. Don't bother watching the news as much on TV as it will just depress you. When you watch stories on famine, war and terrorism then does it make you happy? I'd rather watch Friends or Seinfeld.
Exercise Regularly
Maybe you think that working out has nothing to do with stress. Not so - first of all, working out will help mop up some of the bad chemicals in your body from being stressed earlier in the day but not having an outlet to get rid of them. Secondly, working out has a great effect on the mind. You don't need to go to the extreme of pro athletes but have you ever noticed how some of them seem to get "high" off exercise? Anyone including you can get these positive benefits.
Learn To Relax
Set aside some time every day to relax. Turn off your cellphone and television. Find a real quiet spot to just be yourself. The bedroom is usually best but sometimes even the bathroom can be a great place to find your isolation. Close your eyes and breathe deeply and look for your stomach to rise, not your chest. This slow breathing using the diaphragm is a great way to relax in seconds.
